It Squishes Great August 23, 2007 F. McGregor (Baltimore, Maryland, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It squishes cans quite well. We used to have one of those smaller all metal units, but the handle broke nearly immediately, and had to be taped up to function. This one is a big improvement, as well as having to be used less often due to capacity. The only (slight) drawback is that the can Holder could be a little beefier. But we figure the weight difference in Plastic vs Metal was a lot of the consideration. It has not failed after hundreds of uses, so it is becoming a moot point.
Overall, it is a fantastic tool, and we recommend it highly.
Super Can Chrusher January 9, 2007 P. Henry (St. Louis, MO USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Works at least as good as advertised and probably better!
I should have bought this a long time ago.
It is really a big time saver.
Does it's job exceedingly well for the price. April 26, 2009 Esha (Missouri) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this last year for my father, he is a big time Coke drinker. And when I say big time, I mean the man has probably literally not had a glass of water in 15 years (but let's not get into a health discussion here).
Some years ago he grew concious of his effect on the environment from throwing away all these aluminum cans when he could be recycling them. The problem was he would line them up on the ground and crush them by stomping on them. Obviously this was a tedious task and he would let literally multiple hundreds of cans pile up in his kitchen, to the point you could not even set a plate down (he's an old timey bachelor, no reason to clean up).
Well I decided to take the initiative and buy this for him even though I had mentioned several times before he should buy some kind of crusher to simplify things. Since I knew he drank so much, this seemed like a much better solution over single can crushers.
Well since visiting his house I have had the oppurtunity to try this thing out several times whilst helping him clean up his home. I will load up a garbage bag with a couple dozen cans and go out and crush them.
It really is a remarkably simple device that provides much convenience. You can easily load up 9 or 10 cans as advertised, the plastic "cage" style basket lets you easily correct any cans that bounce up at odd angles. Takes maybe 10 seconds to load it and then you commence the crushing. I don't quite strive for 10 seconds, but it takes maybe 20 seconds at a leisurely pace, it actually is pretty efficient.
It's constructed of all plastic but that doesn't diminish the performance of the crushing. The "ram" part lifts up so you can insert elongated cans or to put that single can in. The actual crushing mechanism is pretty durable, with the "cage" being a little lighter, but really the cage is not subjected to any forces that could damage it.
Since buying this he now crushes his cans much more frequently and instead of hundreds piling up now maybe only a dozen or two will. He is actually fortunate enough to live near a recycling area that pays out money for aluminum so he will actually come back with a decent chunk of change ($30-50) when he finally takes a load down.
The only con is an occasional can will get stuck, but it's not a deal breaker. I still have to give this thing 5 stars because of the convenience to price ratio.
If you need to crush a lot of cans this is your guy right here, if you need to crush only a can once in a while then maybe check out a single can crusher.
can ram does the job June 9, 2007 Mistress Lois (Hawaii) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product lives up to it's name. Sturdy, yet lightweight, it is easy to install and even easier to use. It has reduced the space of recycling immensely. I would strongly recommend it.
IT WORKS WELL November 21, 2007 B. Acken (USA) I read some of the negative feedback and was worried, but so far so good. It crushes cans with ease and loads easily. one thing that i would note is that it is better to load the cans open end facing you. if there is a little soda left in the can and it faces the other way it may end up splashing on the wall when crushing it. If the open end is facing you it does not seem to have this problem at all. It will crush the 16 oz cans also by flipping the crusher out, loading the can, flipping the crusher back, and operating. I do not anticipate any problem with the unit. It is made for aluminum can and is not strong enough to crush steel or tin so dont try that.
A+++++++
